EQUITY MATES DOES
SHARES FOR BEGINNERS
Chewing the fat with a couple of great guys and fellow podcasters - The Equity Mates.
"In terms of portfolio construction, it's satellite and core portfolios. We've spoken about it on the show where you have a portfolio known as the core, which is potentially 80% of your total investment, that is passive, and you're just building a portfolio of ETFs and potentially listed investment companies. Then your satellite is those smaller individual stocks that you might be taking a little bit of a punt on or hoping that you're going to get an outsized return, and that might be 10-20% of your portfolio. So that's one way that you can manage your risk. I would encourage beginners to have a look at that and think about the core satellite approach" - Bryce Leske
DIVERSIFICATION - NOT JUST SHARES
"Getting back to diversification, I think it's really good to understand that true diversification is not just being invested in equities. It's having some of other asset classes, and it's worthwhile having a look at these, and you can invest in these asset classes through ETFs" - Phil
